No person shall burn leaves or cause or suffer or allow thick or dense smoke, soot, dust, cinders or offensive or noxious odors to emanate from any building, structure, place or premises within the Village. The provisions of this section shall not apply to any outdoor grill or barbecue used for the preparation of food, or to the escape of smoke from any stationary stack, flue, chimney or fire for less than five minutes in any eight-hour period. The provisions of this section shall not apply to the burning of material by any agency of the Village when such burning is done under the supervision of the officials in charge of such agency. The provisions of this section shall not apply to the burning of wood or artificial fireplace logs in residential fireplaces.

A violation of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article III.
