The Board of Trustees of the Village of North Hills hereby finds and determines that it is in the best interests of said Village and its residents to have local government of and by residents of the Village and to encourage residents of the Village to participate in the government. The Board further finds that in order to foster and encourage such participation and to recognize the substantial amounts of time which are devoted to and required for the performance of the duties of various public offices in the Village, it is advisable and appropriate to compensate the persons holding those offices, as provided in this article.

The compensation of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Trustees of the Village shall be established, from time to time, by resolution of the Board of Trustees.[2]
