A. 
The term of office of the elective Town Clerk of the Town of Philipstown shall be four years. Such four-year term shall commence on the first day of January following the first biennial Town election after the effective date of this article.
B. 
At the biennial Town election next following the effective date of this article, and every four years thereafter, the Town Clerk shall be elected for a term of four years.
This article shall supersede in its application to the Town of Philipstown § 24 of the Town Law with respect to the term of office of the elective Town Clerk.
It is hereby confirmed that the office of Tax Collector was and is abolished pursuant to § 36 of the Town Law, and the Town Clerk shall possess the powers and duties of Collector of Taxes as prescribed by law.
