[Adopted as Sec. 50/II/2 of the 1976 Code]
There is hereby established a Development and
Industrial Commission, hereinafter called the "Commission," for the
promotion and development of the industrial resources of the City
of Chicopee as provided by and in accordance with the provisions of
MGL c. 40, § 8A, as amended, and which shall consist of
15 members who shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the provisions
of the City Charter.
Upon the passage of this article, the terms
of the members shall be for such length not exceeding five years and
so arranged that the terms of approximately 1/5 of the members will
expire each year, and their successors shall be appointed for terms
of five years each.

Any member of the Commission so appointed may
be removed for cause after public hearing, if requested, by the Mayor
with the approval of the City Council.
A vacancy occurring in the membership of the
Commission otherwise than by expiration of term shall be filled for
the unexpired term in the same manner as an original appointment.

The Commission may appoint such clerks and other
employees as it may require and expend such funds as may be appropriated
by the City Council.
The Commission shall have all the powers and
exercise all of the duties as are provided for in the provisions of
MGL c. 40, § 8A, as amended, and such other powers as may
be granted to such Commission under the laws of the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts.
