All territory within 500 feet of the premises of each
hospital, each nursing home or any medical health care facility where
overnight stays are required by competent medical personnel, in the
City of Chicopee, is hereby declared, by the amendment of this ordinance,
to be a zone of quiet.

B.Â
The Chief of Police may temporarily establish a zone
of quiet upon any street where a person is seriously ill, if requested
to do so by the written statement of at least two registered physicians
certifying to its necessity. Said temporary zone of quiet shall embrace
all territory within a radius of 200 feet of the building occupied
by the person named in the request of said physicians. Said temporary
zones of quiet shall be designated by the police by placing at a conspicuous
place in the street a sign or marker bearing the words "Quiet Zone."

No person operating any type of motor vehicle within
any designated zone of quiet shall sound the horn or use other warning
devices, cause the motor to run at very high speeds or rev excessively
so as to cause loud noises or to cause his or her vehicles to spin
the wheels at a high speed (burn rubber). The only exceptions are
emergency vehicles.
