A.
Every driver of a vehicle, railway car or other conveyance
approaching an intersection of ways where there exists facing him
an official sign bearing the word "stop" and authorized by this section,
said sign having apart from this regulation the written approval of
the Department of Public Works, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and
such approval being in effect, shall before proceeding through the
intersection, bring such vehicle, railway car or other conveyance
to a complete stop at such point as may be clearly marked by a sign
or line, or if a point is not so marked, then at a place between the
said stop sign and the nearer line of the street intersection. In
the case of a line of two or more vehicles approaching such stop sign,
the drivers of the second and third vehicles in line in any group
shall not be required to stop more than once before proceeding through
the intersection. This section shall not apply when the traffic is
otherwise directed by an officer or by a lawful traffic regulating
sign, signal or device.
B.
In accordance with the foregoing the erection and
maintenance of an official stop sign or signs are authorized as follows:

A.
In accordance with the provisions of MGL C. 90, § 18,
as amended, the following special speed regulation is hereby adopted
by the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Georgetown.
B.
The following speed limits are established at which
motor vehicles may be operated in the areas described:
(1)
North Street (northbound) beginning at West Main Street
(Route 97); thence northerly 0.24 miles at 25 miles per hour; thence
0.35 miles at 35 miles per hour; thence 1.03 miles at 35 miles per
hour; thence 0.31 miles at 40 miles per hour; thence 0.97 miles at
35 miles per hour; ending at the Byfield town line. The total distance
being 2.90 miles.

North Street (southbound) beginning at the Byfield
town line; thence southerly in Georgetown 0.97 miles at 35 miles per
hour; thence 0.31 miles at 40 miles per hour; thence 1.03 miles at
35 miles per hour; thence 0.35 miles at 35 miles per hour; thence
0.24 miles at 25 miles per hour; ending at West Main Street, Route
97. The total distance being 2.90 miles.

East Main Street (Route 133) (westbound) beginning
at the end of state highway; thence westerly 0.33 miles at 50 miles
per hour; thence 1.30 miles at 35 miles per hour; thence 0.08 miles
at 25 miles per hour; ending at North Street. The total distance being
1.71 miles.

East Main Street (Route 133) (eastbound) beginning
at North Street; thence easterly 1.38 miles at 35 miles per hour;
thence 0.33 miles at 50 miles per hour; ending at the beginning of
state highway. The total distance being 1.71 miles.

Andover Street (Route 133) (eastbound) beginning at
the Boxford town line; thence easterly in Georgetown 0.30 miles at
45 miles per hour; thence 1.21 miles at 40 miles per hour; thence
0.55 miles at 35 miles per hour; thence 0.09 miles at 25 miles per
hour; ending at Central Street. The total distance being 2.15 miles.

Andover Street (Route 133) (westbound) beginning at
Central Street; thence westerly 0.09 miles at 25 miles per hour; thence
0.55 miles at 35 miles per hour; thence 1.21 miles at 40 miles per
hour; thence 0.30 miles at 45 miles per hour; ending at the Boxford
town line. The total distance being 2.15 miles.

West Main Street and Central Street (Route 97) (northbound)
beginning at the Boxford town line; thence northerly in Georgetown
1.68 miles at 40 miles per hour; thence 0.15 miles at 35 miles per
hour; thence 0.26 miles at 25 miles per hour; thence 0.20 miles at
35 miles per hour; thence 0.31 miles at 40 miles per hour; thence
0.67 miles at 45 miles per hour; ending at the Groveland town line.
The total distance being 3.26 miles.

West Main Street and Central Street (Route 97) (southbound)
beginning at the Groveland town line; thence southerly in Georgetown
0.67 miles at 45 miles per hour; thence 0.31 miles at 40 miles per
hour; thence 0.20 miles at 35 miles per hour; thence 0.26 miles at
25 miles per hour; thence 0.14 miles at 35 miles per hour; thence
1.68 miles at 40 miles per hour; ending at the Boxford town line.
The total distance being 3.26 miles.
C.
Operation of a motor vehicle at a rate of speed in
excess of these limits shall be prima facie evidence that such speed
is greater than is reasonable and proper.
D.
The provisions of this regulation shall not, however,
abrogate in any sense MGL C. 90, § 14.
