The Georgetown Conservation Commission adopted the following regulations
on August 22, 1974, under MGL C. 40, § 8C.
These regulations apply to the Lufkins Brook Conservation Area in the
Town of Georgetown. Signs reading "Under the control of Conservation Commission
of the Town of Georgetown" are to be posted at normal entrances to the area.
A.
No fires are to be allowed.
B.
No hunting or trapping or discharging of any weapon is
to be allowed.
C.
All people are welcome to enjoy themselves without charge
in this conservation area of Georgetown from 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2
hour after sunset.
D.
No cars, trucks or other powered vehicles or tools are
allowed except on designated roads and except for town vehicles.
E.
Conservation areas are meant to be preserved in a natural
state. Cans, bottles, garbage, etc., are to be taken away. No person shall
cut, break, remove, deface or ill-use any structure, fence or sign or have
possession of any part thereof. No growing trees, bushes, plants or flowers
shall be defaced or cut, nor shall trails be cut or marked, nor dams built,
nor any structure such as a lean-to, bridge, tower or handrail be constructed,
without authorization of the Conservation Commission.
The Conservation Commission has no employees, does not patrol these
lands and cannot assume for the town liability for injuries, damage to property
or other loss to persons going on such areas, who themselves assume all the
risks involved.
Violations of the rules are to be reported to the Commission or to the
Chief of Police. Violations hereof shall be punished by fines not less than
$5 nor more than $25 for a first offense, not less than $10 nor more than
$50 for a second offense and not less than $15 nor more than $100 for a third
or subsequent offense.
