GENERAL REFERENCES
Salaries and compensation — See Ch. 42.
The office of Borough Clerk, as provided for by law and as established
by prior ordinances, is hereby continued.
Any person appointed to the office of Borough Clerk shall hold a registered
municipal clerk certificate as provided for by N.J.S.A. 40A:9-133.1 et seq.,
and such person shall not be required to be a resident of the Borough of Madison.
A.
In accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:9-133 and 9-133.1, the
Borough Clerk shall be appointed by the Borough Council and shall have a term
of office of three years, which shall run from January 1 in the year in which
he or she was appointed.
B.
Any person reappointed as Borough Clerk shall hold office
during good behavior and efficiency as provided for under N.J.S.A. 40A:9-133.7.
The Borough Clerk shall receive such salary and/or other compensation
as may be established from time to time by separate salary ordinances or amendments
thereto.
This chapter is intended to implement the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-133
to 9-134, governing the office of Municipal Clerk, and all provisions of this
chapter shall be interpreted in a manner consistent therewith.
