The title of this article is: "Ordinance Imposing a Jail Processing Fee." This article is enacted pursuant to the provisions of § 15-2-1613.1, which is effective on July 1, 2002.
A fee of $25 shall be imposed and assessed on any individual admitted to a County, city or regional jail following conviction.
Such fee shall be ordered as a part of court costs collected by the Clerk, deposited into the account of the Treasurer of Buchanan County, and shall be used by the Buchanan County Sheriff's office to defray the costs of processing arrested persons into local or regional jails.
This article shall take effect upon July 1, 2002, or upon its passage, whichever date last occurs.

The title of this article is: "Ordinance Assessing a Courthouse Security Fee." This article is enacted pursuant to the provisions of § 53.1-120D.

A fee of $10 shall be assessed as part of the cost in each criminal or traffic case in District or Circuit Court in Buchanan County, Virginia, in which the defendant is convicted of a violation of any statute or ordinance.
Such assessment shall be collected by the Clerk of the Court in which the case is heard, remitted to the Treasurer of Buchanan County, and held by such Treasurer subject to appropriation by the Board of Supervisors to the Buchanan County Sheriff's office for the funding of courthouse security personnel; and if requested by the Sheriff, equipment and other personal property used in connection with courthouse security.
