This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Oxford Township Zoning Ordinance of 1978."
The purpose of this chapter is to limit and restrict to specified districts and regulate therein buildings and structures according to their construction and the nature and extent of their use and the nature and extent of the uses of land, including the regulation and restricting of the height, number of stories and sizes of buildings and other structures, the percentage of lot that may be occupied, the sizes of yards, courts and other open spaces, the density of population and the location and use and extent of the use of buildings and structures and land for trade, industry, residence and other purposes within the delegated powers provided in Title 40, Chapter 55D, of the New Jersey Revised Statutes, the Municipal Land Use Law, its amendments and supplements thereto, and specifically, but not by way of limitation, to lessen congestion in the streets; secure safety from fire, panic and other dangers; promote health, morals or general welfare; provide adequate light and air; prevent the overcrowding of land or buildings, avoid undue concentration of population; and prevent damage to the physical environment.
A. 
In interpreting and applying the provisions of this chapter, they shall be held to be the minimum requirements adopted for the promotion of the public health, safety, morals, convenience and general welfare.

Where the provisions of this chapter impose greater restrictions or higher standards than those of any statute, other ordinance or regulation, the provisions of this chapter shall govern. Where the provisions of any statute, other ordinance or regulation impose greater restrictions or higher standards than this chapter, the provisions of such statute, ordinance or regulation shall govern.
