GENERAL REFERENCES
Vehicles and traffic — See Ch. 109.
No person or corporation shall operate or run public taxicabs or limousines for the transportation of persons over or upon the streets of the Village of Rhinebeck for hire or solicit either on private property or on the public highway without a license.
The Board of Trustees of the Village shall grant permission for a license to such persons or corporations as it shall deem fit and proper for such trade. The Village Clerk shall issue such license following the granting of permission by the Board of Trustees, said license not to take effect until the receipt of the license fee by the Village Clerk.
There shall be an annual license fee of $10 per taxicab or limousine.
The Mayor may suspend any such license until the next meeting of the Board of Trustees, and thereupon said license may be revoked or continued by the Board.
This chapter shall not apply to unlicensed taxis actually answering a call to come to the Village to pick up passengers or coming to the Village to discharge them.
Any person or corporation violating this chapter shall be liable to a fine of not more than $75 for the first offense and not more than $150 for subsequent offenses.
