A. 
Township Clerk. The Township Clerk shall be appointed by the Council pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-133 et seq. He/she shall be responsible to the Manager in all matters of administration.
B. 
Deputy Township Clerk.
(1) 
The Deputy Clerk shall be appointed by the Council in the same manner as the Township Clerk. The term of office of the Deputy Clerk shall be at the pleasure of the Council.
(2) 
The Deputy Clerk shall have the powers of the Township Clerk and shall perform the duties of the Office during the absence, disability or disqualification of the Township Clerk.
(3) 
The Deputy Clerk shall perform such duties and functions as may be assigned from time to time by the Township Clerk, when he/she is present and able to carry out the functions and duties of his/her office, or as may otherwise be directed by the Council by ordinance.
The Clerk shall:
A. 
Serve as Clerk of the Council, keeping the minutes and records of its proceedings and maintaining and compiling its ordinances and resolutions, as required by the Charter.
B. 
Assist the Manager in the preparation and distribution of Council agendas and related pre- and post-meeting materials.
C. 
Have custody of the Township Seal and affix it to such documents as may be authorized.
D. 
Have and take custody of all official documents of the Township for which no other repository is provided by law or ordinance.
E. 
Carry out pertinent provisions of the General Election Law (N.J.S.A. 19:1-1 et seq.) and of such licensing laws and ordinances as may be assigned.
F. 
Exercise the duties of Registrar of Vital Statistics pursuant to N.J.S.A. 26:8-11.
G. 
Perform such other work as the Council or Manager may direct.

The Office shall be organized pursuant to plan as provided in § 3-5.
