A Recreation Department is hereby created, to be headed by a Recreation Director with indicated competence in recreation activities and administration.
The Recreation Director shall perform all appropriate functions associated with the following and such others as may be assigned from time to time:
A. 
Creation and administration of recreational opportunities for children and adults, including senior citizens in Byram Township.
B. 
Under the direction of the Township Manager, develop and enforce appropriate regulations and policies for the use of Byram Township parks and recreational facilities.
C. 
Coordinate scheduling and usage of Township-owned parks and recreation facilities. Administration of permits for access to the Township's fields, parks, and recreational facilities and to coordinate with the Township's nonprofit and civic groups. This includes the administration of the Township's Criminal History and Background Checks program.
D. 
Responsible for managing the Recreation Committee and such other ad hoc or standing committees as it may create under the direction of the Township Manager.
E. 
Support the Township's Senior Citizen Club and administer the senior busing service.
F. 
Research and manage proposals for special funding through grants and other sources for the good of the Township's recreation program.
G. 
Responsible for creating and managing the annual budget for the Recreation Department and Celebration of Public Events.
H. 
The Recreation Director shall be responsible for soliciting volunteers for active participation to help facilitate the delivery of Township-sponsored and supported recreation.
I. 
Such other functions that may be assigned from time to time by the Township Manager.
The Recreation Department shall be organized pursuant to a plan as provided in § 3-5.
