Pursuant to the authority of and subject to the requirements of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-152 and 40A:9-152.1, the position of Township Treasurer, heretofore established by the Township Committee, is hereby created, continued and confirmed. The Township Committee may appoint a full-time or part-time Treasurer, who shall be a certified municipal finance officer in accordance with the requirements of N.J.S.A.40A: 9-140.2 and 40A:9-140.3 et seq., and may be the same individual who serves as Chief Financial Officer. The Treasurer shall be appointed for a term of one year from the date of appointment. Any vacancy in the office of the Treasurer occurring other than by expiration of term shall be filled by the Township Committee for the unexpired portion of the term only.
The Treasurer, if not also serving as Chief Financial Officer, shall work under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, and shall perform such duties as are delegated by the Chief Financial Officer, or assigned by the Township Administrator in consultation with the Chief Financial Officer. Such duties shall include those permitted by law to be performed by certified municipal finance officers, and such other duties necessary for the efficient functioning of the Finance Department.
The Township Treasurer shall be paid in accordance with the annual Salary Resolution within the guidelines set forth in the Salary Ordinance.
The position of Deputy Township Treasurer is hereby created. In its discretion, the Township Committee may authorize the Administrator to hire a full-time or part-time Deputy Township Treasurer who shall have such qualifications and duties as may be determined by the Township Committee. The Deputy Township Treasurer shall be an employee of the Township, shall report to the Township Treasurer or Chief Financial Officer, as applicable, and shall be subject to the Salary Resolution and Salary Ordinance and personnel policies of the Township to the same extent as other employees.
