GENERAL REFERENCES
Fire Department rules and regulations — See Ch. A264.
The Fire Department for the Borough shall be known as the "Rockaway Fire Department."
The purpose and intent of the Fire Department shall be to preserve and protect property from fire during such fires as may occur in the Borough and vicinity.
A. 
The Fire Department shall be governed by the rules and regulations made from time to time by the Mayor and Council concerning the duties of the Department.
B. 
The Department shall be under the control of the Mayor and Council and may be disbanded by the Mayor and Council at any time whenever they shall see fit and proper to do so.
The Fire Department shall be a volunteer department, and it shall render its services without receiving pay or compensation.

A. 
As a nonprofit organization holding tax exempt status under N.J.S.A. 54:4-3.10, the Rockaway Fire Department Association shall be exempt from the payment of construction permit fees, zoning permit fees, and bingo/raffle fees upon presentation and filing of the form prescribed by N.J.S.A. 54:4-4.4, which demonstrates tax exempt status, with the Borough Tax Assessor.
B. 
After the initial presentation of the form demonstrating tax exempt status of the Rockaway Fire Department Association, the Borough Tax Assessor shall file the certificate for future reference. If the form, on its face, appears to be outdated or inaccurate, the Borough Tax Assessor may refuse to grant any exemption unless and until a current and valid form is shown and filed.
C. 
The Rockaway Fire Department Association shall maintain a copy of a current and valid form demonstrating tax exempt status with the Borough Tax Assessor.
