[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Greenburgh as
indicated in article histories. Amendments noted where applicable.]
[Adopted 1-14-1969]
A.Â
This ordinance is adopted for the sole purpose of setting
forth those procedures necessary for the establishment of an orderly arrangement,
by chapter, article and section number, of all the existing ordinances, local
laws, regulations and codes of the Town of Greenburgh, and once so established,
for the maintenance of such arrangement.
B.Â
In order to effect such arrangement, it is necessary
to assign to each existing ordinance, local law, regulation and code a chapter
and, in some cases, an article number, and that the sections of such ordinances,
local laws, regulations and codes must be renumbered by duly adopted amendment
so that they will conform to such orderly arrangement.
C.Â

Town Board, by means of this ordinance, to establish an orderly arrangement,
by chapter, article and section number, of all the existing ordinances, local
laws, regulations and codes of the Town of Greenburgh. No substantive change
is intended or desired, and the substantive portions of the now existing ordinances,
local laws, regulations and codes of the Town of Greenburgh shall retain their
full force and effect.
Pursuant to § 475-1, the following ordinances, local laws, regulations and codes, without any substantive change, are hereby assigned chapter and article numbers as hereinafter indicated:

separate ordinance was also adopted on January 14, 1969, which designated
the old section numbers and the corresponding new section numbers of the ordinances,
as they were renumbered and as they appear in the Code as a result of the
codification adopted herein. These ordinances are on file and available for
examination in the office of the Town Clerk. Also, all original ordinances,
local laws, regulations and amendments thereto are available in the Town Clerk's
office.
A certified copy of the renumbered ordinances, local laws and regulations
of the Town of Greenburgh and amendments thereto shall be kept on file with
the Town Clerk. It shall be the duty of the Town Clerk or someone authorized
by him to insert in their designated places all amendments or laws which indicate
the intention of the Town Board to make the same a part of such renumbered
ordinances, local laws and regulations when such amendments and laws have
been printed or reprinted in page form, and to extract from such copy all
provisions which may, from time to time, be repealed by the Town Board. Said
certified copy of the ordinances, local laws and regulations of the Town of
Greenburgh shall be available to all persons desiring to examine the same
during office hours at the Town Hall.
Should this ordinance or any part thereof be rendered invalid by a court
of competent jurisdiction, such judgment shall not affect the validity of
any existing ordinance, local law or regulation of the Town of Greenburgh,
or any amendments thereto, and all such ordinances, local laws or regulations
and prior amendments thereto shall remain in full affect.
This ordinance shall be designated as Chapter 1,[1] and shall take effect immediately.
