It shall be unlawful, except in an emergency, for any driver of a vehicle while proceeding along any of the Town highways mentioned in § 275-22 of this article to drive a vehicle across a double line marked on the highway surface, except where the double line consists of a solid line and a broken line and the broken line is on the same side as the vehicle.

A. 
Any person violating any provision of this article relating to yellow lines shall be guilty of a traffic infraction and shall, for a first conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of not more than $100 or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment; for a conviction of a second violation, both of which were committed within a period of 18 months, such person shall be punished by a fine of not more than $200 or by imprisonment for not more than 45 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment; and for a conviction of a third or subsequent violation, all of which were committed within a period of 18 months, such person shall be punished by a fine of not more than $300 or by imprisonment for not more than 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
B. 
The above fines shall be doubled should the violation occur in a posted construction zone.
