The Town Superintendent of Highways shall have
the power to remove or cause the removal of any vehicle:
A.
Parked or abandoned on any highway within this Town
during a snowstorm, flood, fire or other public emergency which affects
that portion of the public highway upon which said vehicle is parked
or abandoned.
B.
Found unattended on any highway within this Town where
said vehicle constitutes an obstruction to traffic.
C.
Parked or abandoned on any highway within this Town
where stopping, standing or parking is prohibited.
D.
Left unattended for more than 24 hours within the
right-of-way of any highway or other public property within the Town.
A.
After removal of any vehicle as authorized in this
article, the Superintendent of Highways shall cause such vehicle to
be stored in a suitable place at the expense of the owner. Such owner
or the person in charge of the vehicle may redeem the same upon payment
to the Town of the amount of all expenses actually and necessarily
incurred in effecting such removal, such expenses not to exceed the
amount specified in the schedule of charges established by resolution
of the Town Board.
The Superintendent of Highways shall, without
delay, ascertain or cause to be ascertained, to the extent possible,
the owner of the vehicle or person having charge of the same, and
shall notify him of the removal and disposition of such vehicle and
of the amount which will be required to redeem same.
