This Article is enacted to amend the Zoning Ordinance of the Borough of Closter to safeguard the health, life, safety and welfare of the citizens of the Borough of Closter.
As used in this Article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
ASHES
Includes the residue from the burning of wood, glass, coke or other combustible materials.
GARBAGE
Includes all putrescible animal and vegetable wastes resulting from the handling, preparation, cooking and consumption of foods.
RUBBISH
Includes nonputrescible solid wastes (excluding ashes), consisting of both combustible and noncombustible wastes, such as paper, cardboard, tin cans, yard clippings, wood, glass and similar materials.
TRASH
Includes all putrescible and nonputrescible solid wastes, including garbage, rubbish, ashes, street cleaning, dead animals, abandoned automobiles, solid market and industrial wastes or any material no longer considered usable.
TRASH AND GARBAGE COMPACTING TRANSFER STATIONS
Includes any stationary compacting unit, transfer station or other unit which is operated by a mechanical device and which has as its purpose the compacting of trash, garbage, rubbish and/or ashes of any and all kinds.
A. 
No person, firm or corporation shall manage, conduct, maintain or operate a business the purpose of which is to store, treat, transfer or compact trash, garbage, rubbish or ashes or similar debris within the Borough of Closter.
B. 
The activities prohibited by Subsection A shall be deemed prohibited uses in all zones in the Borough of Closter.

Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision of this Article shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a penalty as set forth in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article II, Violations and Penalties, of this Code.
