Pursuant to Section 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act (P.L. 1983, c. 383, N.J.S.A. 52:27D-202) the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code shall be locally enforced in the Town.
The local enforcing agency shall be the Town of Boonton Fire Department through the Bureau of Fire Prevention, which is hereby created therein.
The Bureau of Fire Prevention shall enforce the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted under it in all buildings, structures and premises within the established boundaries of the Town, other than owner-occupied one- and two-family dwellings, and shall faithfully comply with the requirements of the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the Uniform Fire Code.
The Bureau of Fire Prevention shall carry out the periodic inspections of life hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.

The Bureau of Fire Prevention is a part of the Town of Boonton Fire Department and shall be under the direct supervision and control of the Fire Official who shall report to the Board of Chiefs.
A. 
Appointment of Fire Official. The Bureau of Fire Prevention shall be under the supervision of the Fire Official who shall be appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, with the recommendation of the Board of Fire Chiefs, pursuant to Title 11, Civil Service, of the Revised Statutes. The Fire Official shall be a person certified by the Commissioner of Community Affairs.
B. 
Term of office. The Fire Official shall serve for an unspecified term pursuant to Civil Service rules and regulations.
C. 
Inspectors and employees. Such inspectors and other employees as may be necessary for the Bureau of Fire Prevention to properly carry out its responsibilities shall be appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, with the recommendation of the Board of Fire Chiefs, pursuant to Title 11A, Civil Service, of N.J.S.A.

Pursuant to Sections 15 and 17 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act,[1] any person aggrieved by any order of the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall have the right to appeal to the Construction Board of Appeals of the County of Morris.

In addition to the registrations required pursuant to the Uniform Fire Code, the classifications of buildings, structures and premises shall be inspected once a year and shall pay an annual fee as provided in Chapter 130, Fees, Article III, Fee Schedule.

In accordance with the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code, N.J.A.C. 5:70 et seq., the fees for the permits listed shall be as provided in Chapter 130, Fees, Article III, Fee Schedule.
Technical amendments to the Code must go beyond the minimum established by the Code.
