A Law Department is hereby created.
The office of Township Attorney is hereby created.

The Township Attorney shall be in charge of the Law Department. The Township Attorney shall have charge of all legal affairs of the township government and of the various boards or other official bodies connected therewith.
The Township Attorney shall be appointed for a term of one year. The Township Attorney shall receive an annual salary as provided in the Salary Ordinance[1] and, in addition thereto, such extra compensation for special litigation and other special matters as the Township Council shall determine from time to time.

A. 
An Assistant Township Attorney may be appointed by the Township Council to assist the Township Attorney and to perform all duties required of him or her by the members of the Township Council, for such term and at such salary as said Council shall determine.
B. 
A special or outside counsel may be appointed by the Township Council to work in such capacity and to perform such special duties and assignments as directly required of him or her by the members of the Township Council, for such term and at such salary as said Council may determine.
The Township Attorney, Assistant Township Attorney and special or outside counsel shall have such clerical aid as may be necessary to properly perform the duties of the Law Department.
