A. 
Every owner and occupant of every house in the Town of Clay shall have placed theron, in a place visible from the street or highway, figures or lettering of sufficient size so that they are clearly legible from the adjacent street or highway, showing the number of the house.
B. 
Every owner of every apartment building, townhouse or multiple residence complex in the Town of Clay shall also have placed in a place visible from the street or highway figures or lettering of sufficient size so that they are clearly legible from the adjacent street or highway. The figures or lettering shall be illuminated or reflective so as to be clearly visible to the occupant of any emergency vehicle operating on the adjacent street or highway, showing the number of each building.
C. 
Every owner or occupant of any other building or structure except farm buildings shall also have placed in a place visible from the adjacent street or highway figures or lettering of sufficient size so that they are clearly legible from the adjacent street or highway, showing the number of the building.
Any person who shall fail to place or have placed the number or letter of any building or apartment as required in the preceding sections after receiving written notice from the Commissioner of Public Safety shall, after the expiration of two weeks from the date of service of the written notice, be guilty of a violation of this chapter and may be punished as provided in § 1-18 of this Municipal Code.
