A.Â
Establishment of title. The position of Vice Chairman
of the Board of Police Commissioners of the Incorporated Village of
Hempstead is hereby established. The designee to this position shall
be designated by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of
Trustees.
B.Â
Vice Chairman of the Board of Police Commissioners
shall be a current and/or former member of the Hempstead Police Department,
having attained at least the rank of Lieutenant.
C.Â
The term of office and compensation of the Vice Chairman
is to be established by the Mayor and Board of Trustees.
D.Â
Duties. The Vice Chairman of the Board of Police Commissioners
shall perform as a nonvoting member, under the direct supervision
of the Chairman of said Board, assuming any and all duties as prescribed
by the Chairman. In addition, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Commissioners
shall assume the authority, duties and responsibilities of the Chairman
of the Board of Police Commissioners, inclusive of voting, at the
behest of, and/or in the absence or inability of the Chairman of the
Board of Police Commissioners.
