A. 
Installation. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to install, replace, extend, alter or repair any electrical wiring, fixtures, appliances or other electrical apparatus unless such installation, alteration or repair shall be in conformity with this chapter, the current National Electrical Code and 19 NYCRR Chapter 32, Part 1203.

B. 
Connection. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to connect any source of electric current to wiring, fixtures, appliances or other electrical apparatus unless such wiring, fixtures, appliances or other electrical apparatus are in conformity with this chapter, the current National Electrical Code and 19 NYCRR Chapter 32, Part 1203.

C. 
Inspection. The Electrical Inspector or any duly qualified representative of the Board of Trustees is hereby empowered to enter any building or premises for the purpose of inspecting and examining electrical wiring, materials, devices or appliances for light, heat or power and to ascertain if the same complies with this chapter.
D. 
Disconnection. When the Electrical Inspector shall find that the electrical wiring, fixtures, appliances and other electrical apparatus installed in or about a building does not conform to the provisions of this chapter, and when he shall further find the existence of such electrical apparatus constitutes an immediate and serious hazard to the safety or welfare of the occupants of the building or of neighboring buildings or of the inhabitants of the Village, he is hereby empowered to cause such defective wiring, fixtures, appliances or other electrical apparatus to be disconnected from such building and to be removed therefrom.
E. 
Any electrical installations or electrical work must be powered by an approved electrical system.

All meter installations, fuse panels and entrance switches shall be unobstructed, in clear view with at least three feet of clearance in front of and leading to the same and shall at all times be readily accessible for inspection.

In all instances where electrical service is available from an underground secondary or primary network, all new electrical services and those being increased in size or capacity shall be connected to such underground secondary or primary network, as per the specifications of the servicing utility company.
Safety switches for an emergency disconnection of any motor or other electrical appliance shall be installed and located at a point or place ordered by the Electrical Inspector or Fire Inspector.
A. 
Permit prerequisite to installations. No installation shall be commenced until a permit for same is issued by the Village.
B. 
Separate permits required. A separate permit shall be obtained for each separate building, excepting small garages and other buildings adjacent to private dwellings and on the same property and other accessory buildings.
C. 
When a permit is issued, all electrical work shall be based upon the electrical codes in effect on the date of the permit.

It shall be unlawful for any person or persons, firm, corporation, public utility, contractor, lessee, tenant or occupant, except in an emergency endangering life or property, to remove, tap, change, alter or disconnect any Village-owned wire, instrument, fire alarm, streetlight, police call or traffic box on any pole or in any conduit without first giving notice of such intention to the Electrical Inspector.
A. 
Electrical permits shall be obtained prior to any replacement, altering, modification or repairing of the electrical wiring, equipment or devices or installations being made and are required for the following types of electrical installations:

(1) 
New buildings.
(2) 
Alterations, modifications, repairs, or removal of violations where a building permit has been issued.
(3) 
All service wiring and services, whether new, repaired or replaced, or reconnected, including service conduits, distribution or subpanels and grounding wiring or connections for services or equipment, which must comply with the current code.
(4) 
Wiring for additions to occupied buildings, vacant buildings or vandalized buildings.
(5) 
Wiring or repairs necessary on account of any fire damage.
(6) 
All exterior wiring whether overhead or underground.
(7) 
Motor, electric range or other equipment installations permanently connected.
(8) 
Gas, stoker or oil burner installations.
(9) 
Wiring or equipment installed in locations exposed to dust or combustible vapors,
(10) 
Electric signs, carnival or bazarr.
(11) 
Wiring or equipment installed in Industrial or Business C Zones.
(12) 
Wiring or repairs where electrical violation notice has been given.
(13) 
Use of any electrical apparatus at any premises that is issued a permit for temporary public assembly.
B. 
In all cases other than above specified, electrical permits are not required, except that a written notice outlining the nature and extent of the work to be done shall be filed with the Electrical Inspector.
C. 
When electrical work is done after hours, you must call the Building Department within 24 hours of the commencement of such work and leave a message setting forth the location and on the next business day apply for a permit.

D. 
Any electrical work, other than the type set forth above, does not require electrical permits, except that a written notice outlining the nature and extent of the work to be done shall be filed with the Electrical Inspector.

Basic filing fees. A minimum of $100 for the electrical application filing fee is required. All fees for permits are nonrefundable once a permit number is issued and shall accompany each application and be paid to the Village Clerk. The original application shall be used; no facsimiles accepted. This fee is applicable to the following electrical installations:
