As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
APPLIANCES
All gas-burning appliances using liquefied petroleum gas.
LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS
Any material composed predominantly of any of the following hydrocarbons or mixtures thereof: propane, propylene, butane, isobutane and butylene.
LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS EQUIPMENT
All apparatus, piping and equipment pertinent to the use of liquefied petroleum gas.
The provisions of this article shall apply to all uses of liquefied petroleum gas and the installation of all apparatus, piping and equipment pertinent to systems for such uses.
Every installation of liquefied petroleum gas equipment shall be made and maintained in a manner conforming to generally accepted good practice for the making and maintenance of such installations. Compliance with Standard No. 58 National Fire Protection Association for the Storage and Handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gases shall be deemed generally accepted good practice.
Every person installing liquefied petroleum gas equipment shall report to the Fire Chief not later than the 10th day of each month the location and character of each installation made during the previous month.
In no case shall any liquefied petroleum gas plant storage tank be located closer than 50 feet to any building that is not used exclusively for such gas manufacturing, container filling or distributing purposes or to any line of adjoining property.
Buildings used for manufacture, container filling, storage or distribution of petroleum gas shall be of light, noncombustible construction with all electrical equipment vaportight and explosionproof, and heating shall be only by steam, hot water or hot air with heating units located in a separate building or in a separate room completely separated from all other portions of the building by vaportight noncombustible walls with the entrance from the exterior.
