A.Â
Pursuant to Chapter IV, Section 1, of the Charter, the
Corporation Counsel may compromise or settle any claim against the Town in
the amount of $10,000 or less without the approval or ratification of the
Town Council. The Risk Manager may compromise or settle any claim against
the Town in the amount of $25,000 or less, provided that the claim is of a
type administered through the Town's self-insured program and provided further
that the Corporation Counsel and Director of Financial Services approve such
settlement. The Risk Manager shall compile an annual report to the Council
describing all such settlements.
B.Â
The Corporation Counsel may compromise or settle any
property tax appeal, provided that such settlement shall be ratified by a
standing committee of the Town Council designated by it to review such settlements.
