All tires stored in the Township of Washington shall be stored in accordance
with the National Fire Protection Association's Standard No. 231D-1989 Edition,
Appendix C, except as modified herein.
The number of tires, mounted on a rim or not, stored in any one facility
shall not exceed 1,200, no more than 200 of which shall be stored outdoors.
There shall be no distinction between new and used tires for the purpose of
this chapter. Tires which are attached to a vehicle in the normal manner are
not included in the above count.
Tires shall be stored in the following manner:
Any business that recycles used tires or other rubber products shall
not store the products in the same area as the processing plant. The products
shall be packaged for storage as soon as possible after processing and removed
to building that meet or exceed the requirements for storage of such materials
as determined by the Uniform Construction Code. The process of recycling used
rubber tires into other products shall conform and comply with any and all
other regulations that may be established by the Township Fire Official.
The provisions of §§ 238-1 and 238-2 shall not apply to any business that recycles used rubber tires into another product on site. In such a case, the business may store only the number of tires that may be recycled in one business day. Tires must be stored in a suitable enclosure that meets Township and state regulations.
Any person who violates these provisions shall be liable for penalties
as set forth in the Uniform Fire Code. [1]
