The purpose of this chapter is to promote the health, safety and general
welfare of the people of the City of Albany, New York, by imposing regulations
to assure that the City receives notice from ambulance services of any emergency
and can offer the training and expertise of City personnel in response.
Any ambulance service receiving a request for initial emergency assistance
and/or a request for emergency advanced life support services within the City
of Albany shall notify the Department of Fire of any request for such services
prior to the dispatching of an ambulance. The terms "ambulance service," "initial
emergency medical assistance" and "advance life support services" shall have
the same meanings as defined in Article 30 of the Public Health Law.
A violation of this chapter shall constitute a misdemeanor and shall
be punishable by a fine of not less than one thousand dollars ($1,000.) nor
more than five thousand dollars ($5,000.).
This chapter shall take effect immediately.
