This Part 2 shall be known and cited as the "Building Code Applicable to the City of Albany, New York."
No officer, agent or employee of the City shall be personally liable for any damage that may accrue to persons or property as a result of any act required or permitted in the discharge of his duties under this Part 2 or any other provision of this code. Any suit brought against any officer, agent or employee of the City as a result of any act required or permitted in the discharge of his duties under this Part 2 or any other provision of this code shall be defended by the Corporation Counsel of the City pursuant to § 18 of the Public Officers Law of the State of New York.

Except as otherwise provided by law or ordinance of the City of Albany, the Building Commissioner and/or Chief of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services of the City of Albany shall enforce the New York Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code, hereinafter referred to as the "Uniform Code," within the City of Albany. In the event of a conflict between the provisions of the Uniform Code and this chapter, the more stringent requirement shall govern.

In the event of a conflict between the provisions of this Part 2 and any other provisions of the Code of the City of Albany, the provisions of this Part 2 shall control.
