Seasonal employees, traffic crossing guards and other special part-time
employees for whom it is impractical to use civil service methods shall be
appointed by the Village Manager.
The salary and conditions of employment of seasonal employees, traffic
crossing guards and other special part-time employees shall be determined
by the Village Manager subject to budget limitations and the policies and
programs established by the Village Board.
Traffic crossing guards are hereby authorized to direct and guide school
children and other traffic at school crossings to which they may be assigned
from time to time when schools are in session and perform any other duties
related to such work as directed by a superior. No traffic crossing guard
shall have the power of arrest. Training and supervision shall be under the
direction of the Police Department, in cooperation with the Village Manager,
the Traffic Safety Commission and the Village Board.
