A. 
Nonexempt employees are required to accurately record their work time on the designated time record, sign it and return it to his/her supervisor. Nonexempt employees and exempt employees are required to report their sick time, vacation time and holiday time on the designated time record. Nonexempt and exempt employees should turn the time record into his/her supervisor.

The person supervising the unit, office or activity shall review the record for accuracy and, if appropriate, shall submit it to the designated payroll representative.
Employees are obligated to be punctual in reporting for duty or returning from scheduled breaks or lunch. All Borough Employees are expected to be at their assigned posts or points of duty at the scheduled starting time.
An Employee who anticipates arriving late for work or returning late from breaks or lunch should notify his or her department head, indicating the reason for being late and his or her anticipated arrival time. If an Employee is excessively late, the department supervisor shall notify the Personnel Committee Chair, who may take appropriate disciplinary action.
Each Employee of the Borough must notify his or her supervisor of any absence from duty. If not possible to do so in advance of the working day, the report should be made by telephone as early as possible on the day the Employee will be absent. If impossible to contact his or her supervisor, the Employee should so notify the Borough Clerk. Failure to report is a serious offense which cannot be tolerated, as it is the responsibility of each supervisor to know, at all times, the whereabouts of every member of his or her group.
When a lunch period is authorized during a normal eight-hour work period, the supervisor shall ensure that duty stations will be covered as necessary during the lunch period.
The regular hours for Borough offices and activities shall, from time to time, be established by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Rockaway by resolution duly enacted. The Mayor and Council shall also provide such additional hours and days during which Borough offices shall be open by proper resolution.
Employees of the Borough are expected to complete their assigned tours of duty unless excused by the supervisor, in which case a suitable notation will be made on the time report.
Employees of the Borough who are also members of the Rockaway Borough Fire Department may be allowed to answer calls during the workday at the discretion of the Superintendent, Department of Public Works, and/or the Borough Clerk.
Unless a department of the Borough or certain positions within a department are regularly assigned a greater or lesser number of hours per week, the normal hours of work for Full-Time Borough Employees is 40. The regular workweek is considered to start Monday and end Sunday and normally consists of five working days of eight hours each, Monday through Friday.

In the event of unsafe conditions, the Municipal Administrator or Mayor may authorize department heads to close operations earlier than the normal working hours. If conditions exist prior to scheduled openings, the Municipal Administrator shall notify department heads of a delayed opening and a new opening time. Each department will have a calling system in place. If the Employee chooses not to report to work, a full vacation day or compensating time will be charged. Sick time will only be charged for a legitimate illness. If work is called off for the day, no time will be charged for the day. This provision does not apply to the Department of Public Works, police, or any personnel who may be required to assist in an emergency.

Dress, grooming and personal hygiene must be appropriate for the position. Uniforms are required for certain jobs and are to be worn in accordance with applicable departmental standards. All other Employees are required to dress in a manner that is normally acceptable in similar business establishments and consistent with applicable safety standards. Employees shall not wear suggestive attire, jeans, athletic clothing, shorts, T-shirts, novelty buttons, baseball hats and similar items of casual attire that do not present a businesslike appearance. Hair, sideburns, moustaches and beards must be clean, combed and neatly trimmed. Shaggy, unkempt hair is not permissible regardless of length. With the advance approval of the Municipal Administrator, the Borough will make reasonable religious accommodations that do not violate safety standards. Employees violating this policy shall be required to take corrective action or will be sent home without pay.
