The Village ethics code applies to local public officials. An individual holding a local public office is a local public official. This code includes Village employees, elected and appointed officers, and members of the boards, committees and commissions, whether paid or unpaid.
A. 
The State Ethics Code prohibits three types of conduct:
(1) 
Using an office for private gain.
(2) 
Illegal influence: being illegally influenced, i.e., offering or receiving a thing of value.
(3) 
Taking action affecting a matter in which the officials have an interest.
B. 
The Board does adopt §§ 19.42 to 19.59, Wis. Stats., for its code of ethics for local officials.
