GENERAL REFERENCES
Vehicles and traffic — See Ch. 380.
As used in this chapter, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
As defined in § 340.01(58a), Wis. Stats.[1]
A.
A snowmobile may not be registered as a motor vehicle
and may not be operated on a public highway except as specifically
permitted by law.
B.
Wisconsin statutes permit driving a snowmobile directly
across a two- or three-lane highway, but only after stopping and yielding
to all vehicles approaching on the highway.
C.
While operating on the highway is prohibited, a snowmobile
may be operated outside the ditch line on a two- or three-lane highway.
D.
Although there is no age limitation for snowmobile
operators, no person under age 12 may drive one across any highway,
and no one under age 16 may drive one across any state trunk highway
or connecting street.
E.
No one may drive or ride in a snowmobile carrying
any firearm, unless it is unloaded and encased, or any bow, unless
it is unstrung or encased. No one may drive or pursue deer or bear
with a snowmobile.
F.
A snowmobile owner may not permit its operation by
any unqualified or disabled person. Driving a snowmobile while under
the influence of intoxicating liquor, fermented malt beverage, narcotics
or other drugs is prohibited.
G.
It is unlawful to operate a snowmobile at an unreasonable
or improper speed, carelessly so as to endanger the person or property
of another, or in such a way that the exhaust of the motor makes an
excessive or unusual noise or is without a functioning muffler.
H.
Any snowmobile driven across or along a right-of-way
during hours of darkness must display a lighted headlamp and taillamp.

A.
No snowmobile shall be operated within the corporate
limits of the Village of Superior between the hours of 10:00 p.m.
and 6:00 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday of any week, or between the
hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, except
when the driver of the snowmobile is returning directly to his home
from trips to outlying or approved areas and in case of an emergency
during a snow emergency.
B.
No snowmobile shall be operated in excess of 15 miles
per hour in the Village of Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin.

A.
The following area is hereby designated as a snowmobile
route in the Village of Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin: the east
half of Logan Avenue commencing at the intersection of Logan Avenue
and 54th Street, extended westerly; thence southerly on the east half
of Logan Avenue to a point where Logan Avenue meets 75th Street, extended
westerly, the property herein described to be the property directly
adjacent to and east of that property owned by the Town of Superior
and similarly designated by said Town as a snowmobile route, all more
particularly described as the east half of Logan Avenue between 64th
Street extended westerly to meet Logan Avenue and 75th Street extended
westerly to meet Logan Avenue.
B.
The proper Village officers are hereby are authorized
to properly post the area designated as a snowmobile route.
