[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Union Vale 9-13-1976 by L.L. No. 1-1976 (Ch. 48 of the 1983 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
GENERAL REFERENCES
Use of firearms in parks — See Ch. 174, Art. II.
No person, except law enforcement personnel, shall bear, carry, use, shoot, discharge or fire any firearm or longbow, whether a rifle, shotgun, revolver, pistol or other instrument commonly known and designated as a "firearm" or "longbow," in or upon property owned by the Town of Union Vale, Dutchess County, at any time for any purpose whatsoever, including hunting, target shooting or otherwise.

This chapter and the provisions herein contained shall not, however, prohibit nor prevent a person from engaging in supervised target practice, trapshooting or a similar activity with the permission of the Town of Union Vale, which permission must be secured in writing from the Code Enforcement Officer of the Town, and which said activity must be conducted at a definite site or location within said property designated by the Code Enforcement Officer and approved by the Town of Union Vale Town Board and under the supervision of persons conversant with the sport or activity.
This chapter shall not supersede any state statute pertaining to the subject matter hereof, and, in the event of a violation of this chapter, the enforcement authorities shall have the right to bring a charge hereunder and/or under the state statute or statutes.
Any conviction for violation of this chapter shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding $1,000 or imprisonment for one year, or both.
