There is hereby created in the City of Egg Harbor City, County of Atlantic
and State of New Jersey, the position of Court Attendant.
The Court Attendant of the City of Egg Harbor City shall be appointed
by the Common Council of the City of Egg Harbor City and shall serve for a
term of one year commencing each and every year on January 1 and terminating
on December 31 of said year.
The Court Attendant shall perform the following duties during the term
of appointment:
A.
To provide security for the Municipal Court Judge and
court personnel.
B.
To transport court-related documents between the Municipal
Court Judge and the Court Administrator's office.
C.
To provide assistance to members of the public who are
required to complete forms at the request of the Municipal Court Judge and/or
court personnel.
D.
To keep decorum in the municipal courtroom while court
is in session and as further directed by the Municipal Court Judge.
E.
To provide assistance to the Municipal Court Judge and
to litigants in the presentation of evidence.
F.
To conduct such other business as directed by the Municipal
Court Judge and/or the Court Administrator to promote an expeditious and efficient
Municipal Court proceeding and/or proceedings.
The position of Court Attendant is and shall be construed to be a part-time
position. Said Court Attendant shall be required to appear for duty 1/2 hour
before each and every scheduled court session of the Municipal Court of the
City of Egg Harbor City and shall perform his/her duties until 1/2 hour after
the close of business for said court session.
The Court Attendant shall receive such salary as may be fixed by the
City Council of the City of Egg Harbor City in the amounts and payable at
the times as provided in the Municipal Salary Ordinance in effect, and as
amended from time to time.[1]
