There shall be in the City of Egg Harbor City a City Engineer, who shall be appointed by the Common Council of said Egg Harbor City and who shall hold office for the term of three years.
The duties of said Engineer shall be:
A. 
To keep and file in the office of the City Clerk a copy of the grade map of said City wherein are shown the streets and highways within said City and/or alterations which from time to time might be ordered made by Common Council.
B. 
To advise the Common Council or any other officer or officers of said city, in writing, upon all matters appertaining to drainage and any construction or engineering work.
C. 
To report to the Common Council at its monthly meeting the progress of any work under way which may be under his/her supervision.
D. 
To perform all other duties which now are or hereafter may be imposed upon him/her or required of him/her by any law of the state of New Jersey, any ordinance of the City of Egg Harbor City or which may from time to time be prescribed by the Common Council.

The compensation of such City Engineer shall be as set forth in the Salary Ordinance.[1]
