In accordance with the authority set forth in the New Jersey Statutes, the Common Council of the City of Egg Harbor City hereby establishes the position of Chief Financial Officer for the City of Egg Harbor City, County of Atlantic and State of New Jersey. The duties and responsibilities for said position are established herein and are created under this chapter.
A. 
Appointment. The Chief Financial Officer of the City of Egg Harbor City shall be appointed by the Common Council of the City of Egg Harbor City.
B. 
Term. The Chief Financial Officer shall serve at the pleasure of the Common Council of the City of Egg Harbor City, subject to the provisions of New Jersey Statutes permitting such Chief Financial Officer to receive tenure following service in that position for a period of not less than five years and subject to the terms and conditions as provided for in the New Jersey Statutes.
C. 
Compensation. The Chief Financial Officer shall serve on a full-time basis and will receive compensation as set forth in the Salary Ordinance.

The Chief Financial Officer of the City of Egg Harbor City shall be a certified municipal finance officer as provided for in Section 5 of P.L. 1988, c. 110 (N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.10). The Chief Financial Officer shall demonstrate all qualifications as provided for in the New Jersey Statutes and as supplemented by regulations promulgated thereunder by the Division of Local Government Services.
The duties and responsibilities of the Chief Financial Officer of the City of Egg Harbor City shall include all duties prescribed under the Code of the City of Egg Harbor City, as amended from time to time, and by the General Laws of the State of New Jersey, including but not limited to those set forth under P.L. 1947, c. 151 (N.J.S.A. 52:27BB-26 et seq.), and shall further include the following:
A. 
On the last day of each month, to provide a report to the Finance Committee of the Common Council of the City of Egg Harbor City a report of all receipts and expenditures during the preceding month and to present the same to the Finance Committee for examination and approval.
B. 
To maintain all books, papers and moneys of the City of Egg Harbor City.
C. 
To keep all funds and sums of money separate and not to use the same or any part thereof for any purpose but for the redemption of the lawful orders and obligations of the City in the payment of interest thereon and for all such other expenditures as may be duly authorized by the Common Council of the city.
D. 
To comply with and to perform such duties as are designated to a Chief Financial Officer of a municipality by the statutes of the State of New Jersey.
