It is hereby created in the City of Egg Harbor City, County of Atlantic and State of New Jersey the position of Laborer/Motor Broom Driver.
Under direction, the Laborer/Motor Broom Driver drives a motorized sweeping machine that cleans streets and other areas of trash and other accumulations and does related work as required. He/she also performs various types of manual and unskilled laboring work and may drive a truck in connection with laboring work on occasion.
The Laborer/Motor Broom Driver shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
A. 
To ride in a control cab of a motor broom and manipulate levers and steering wheel to guide the machine and regulate the mechanical broom.
B. 
To fill the water tank of the machine from a hydrant.
C. 
To drive a sweeper along the street near the curb and move the controls to activate rotary brushes and water spray so that the machine automatically picks up dust and trash from paved street and deposits it in the dirt trap at the rear of the machine.
D. 
To occasionally drive a truck or operate one or more types of gasoline or diesel powered equipment.
E. 
To occasionally perform manual and unskilled laboring tasks.
F. 
To clean, service and make minor repairs to the sweeper.
The Laborer/Motor Broom Driver shall fulfill the following requirements:
A. 
One year of experience in driving a truck or in the driving of motorized lifting and moving, sweeping, excavating, grading, paving, earthmoving or related construction vehicles.
B. 
Possession of a driver's license of the appropriate type, valid in the State of New Jersey.
The position of Laborer/Motor Broom Driver is and shall be construed to be a full-time position. The Laborer/Motor Broom Driver shall be required to appear for duty Monday through Friday of each and every week from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The Laborer/Motor Broom Driver shall receive such salary as may be fixed by the City Council of the City of Egg Harbor City in the amounts and payable at the times as provided in the Municipal Salary Ordinance in effect, and as amended from time to time.[1]
