Egg Harbor City, NJ Article XVII Honorary Harbor Master

§ 52-54 Creation of position.

There is hereby created in the City of Egg Harbor City, County of Atlantic and State of New Jersey, the position of Honorary Harbor Master.

§ 52-55 Appointment; term of office.

The Honorary Harbor Master shall be appointed by a majority of the members of the Common Council and shall serve for a term of one year beginning each and every year on January l and terminating on December 31 of the same year.

§ 52-56 Power and duties.

A. The Honorary Harbor Master shall have no duties to perform, and said Honorary Harbor Master shall not be responsible nor shall said Honorary Harbor Master be directed to perform any duties by any elected and/or appointed official of the City of Egg Harbor City. Further, the Honorary Harbor Master shall not, without the written consent of the Mayor and Common Council, by unanimous decision, do any of the following:

(1) Enter into any bond, become endorser or surety for any person or knowingly cause or suffer to be done anything whereby the City of Egg Harbor City's property may be seized, attached or taken on execution.

(2) Assign, mortgage, deed in trust or charge the City of Egg Harbor City's assets or profits of the city, or any part thereof, or draw, accept or endorse any bill of exchange or promissory note on account of the City of Egg Harbor City.

(3) Compromise any City of Egg Harbor City claim for any reason or confess judgment against the City of Egg Harbor City.

(4) Dispose of any asset of the City of Egg Harbor City, including any property, be it real and/or personal, of said City of Egg Harbor City.

(5) Borrow any money in the name of or on behalf of the City of Egg Harbor City.

(6) Invoke any right, honor or privilege upon any one or any entity in the name of the City of Egg Harbor City.

(7) Contact, molest or harass any citizen of these United States on the streets or waterways of the City of Egg Harbor City in the name of the City of Egg Harbor City in any manner, fashion or way.

(8) Issue any civil or criminal and/or quasi-criminal complaint for any reason against any individual for a violation of any of the laws of the United States, the State of New Jersey, the County of Atlantic and/or the City of Egg Harbor City in the name of the City of Egg Harbor City.

(9) Use the position of Honorary Harbor Master of the City of Egg Harbor City to personally gain by profit or assignment to said Harbor Master of the City of Egg Harbor City personally.

B. It is the intention of this section to confer no right or interest upon the Honorary Harbor Master to act in the name of the City of Egg Harbor City for any reason whatsoever.

§ 52-57 Compensation.

The Honorary Harbor Master shall receive no salary and/or compensation by the City of Egg Harbor City and/or from any committee, elected official and/or any official of said City of Egg Harbor City.
