There is hereby created in the Egg Harbor City Police Department the positions of Captain and Corporal.
A. 
The Captain shall act as the administrative and operational assistant to the Director of Public Safety. He shall report directly to the Director of Public Safety. In the absence of the Director of Public Safety, the Captain shall:
(1) 
Be directly responsible for the efficient and routine day-to-day operation of the Police Department.
(2) 
Administer and enforce rules and regulations and special emergency directives for the disposition and discipline of the Police Department, its officers and personnel.
(3) 
Prescribe the duties and assignments of all subordinates and other personnel.
(4) 
Delegate such of his authority as he may deem necessary for the efficient operation of the Police Department to be exercised under his direction and supervision.
B. 
The Corporal shall assist the squad sergeant in supervision of squad personnel. He shall report directly to the sergeant. In the absence of the sergeant, the Corporal shall assume direct supervision of the squad. He shall:
(1) 
Be directly responsible for the efficient and routine operation of his assigned squad.
(2) 
Prescribe the duties and assignments of all squad members.
(3) 
Delegate such of his authority as he may deem necessary for the efficient operation of the squad.
The annual salary for the Police Captain and Corporal shall be as set forth in the Salary Ordinance.[1]
