Pursuant to and in accordance with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40:56-21 et seq., there is hereby created in the Township of Egg Harbor a Board of Assessment Commissioners. The Board shall consist of three members appointed by the Township Committee to serve for terms of three years, except that of the members first appointed, one shall serve for one year, one shall serve for two years and one for three years. Thereafter, each appointment shall be for three years. All the terms shall be computed from January 1 of the year of appointment. Board members shall serve until their successors are appointed and qualified.
A. 
The Board of Assessment Commissioners shall be and hereby are charged with the duty of making all assessments for benefits for local improvements in accordance with the duties imposed upon it by virtue of N.J.S.A. 40:56-21 through N.J.S.A. 40:56-64 inclusive and shall, in addition, have and exercise all of the powers authorized by the aforesaid statutes.
B. 
The members of the Board shall choose annually from among its members a Chairperson.
In the event that any Board of Commissioner shall be interested in any local improvement, he/she shall be disqualified from exercising the powers hereinabove conferred with respect to that improvement.
