The position of Bail Bond Assistant of the Borough of South River is hereby created under the direction of the Municipal Court Judge and shall perform multifaceted, specialized bail bond procedures working independently or under minimum direction. This individual will perform accounting/bookkeeping in accordance with bail bond procedure and perform other related duties as required. This individual will work closely with insurance companies, bail bonding agencies, bail bondsmen, the Clerk of the Superior Court and the Court Administrator.
The powers and duties of the Bail Bond Assistant shall include but not be limited to:
A. 
Posting of bail bonds as received for traffic and criminal matters (ATS/ACS).
B. 
Use RMDS for surety bond registry, insurance company, and bail bond company daily updates.
C. 
Forfeit bail in ATS/ACS; send forfeited notices to appropriate agencies.
D. 
Tracking of bail bond forfeitures and reinstatements or settlement.
E. 
Processing judgment of default to the Clerk of the Superior Court.
F. 
Receive and process motions to vacate forfeiture.
G. 
Accept checks to satisfy judgments from insurance companies and processing through ATS/ACS system.
H. 
Other correspondence to the Clerk of the Superior Court, bail bonding companies and other agencies.
I. 
Follow the bail on account; monthly report for all noncash bails.
The Bail Bond Assistant shall have the following knowledge, abilities and skills, including but not limited to:
A. 
Accept and process any payments through the Violations Department.
B. 
Assist with other daily office functions as needed.
C. 
Answer phone inquiries related to all aspects of Court relations.
D. 
Other duties as may be assigned.
The Bail Bond Assistant shall have the following education, experience and training:
A. 
Possess an associate's degree in related field (preferred).
B. 
Graduate from high school and full-time work experience in related field may be substituted for college degree.
C. 
Must be computer literate with knowledge of PCs and automated systems.
D. 
Have knowledge of general accounting, accounts payable/receivables, and banking.
E. 
Able to work independently or as a team member.
F. 
Ability to prioritize and demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
Attire shall be business Professional. Attire must be suitable for the position in order to maintain the professional image of the Municipal Court (no jeans, shorts, T-shirts).
The Bail Bond Assistant shall receive as compensation for services an annual salary, which shall be fixed in accordance with the provisions of the ordinances governing salaries.
