Borough of South River, NJ Article IV Tax Assessor

§ 45-15 Establishment of Office; salary.

A. There is hereby established the Office of the Borough of South River Tax Assessor, which office shall consist of a part-time Assessor and such other clerical help and personnel as shall be necessary to properly conduct the business of the Office of the Assessor.

B. The salary of the Assessor and any clerical personnel shall be determined and fixed by the salary ordinances of the Borough of South River.

§ 45-16 Duties.

A. The Assessor shall perform such duties as are or may be required by the laws of the State of New Jersey.

B. The Assessor shall perform such duties as may be required by the Mayor and Borough Council, which are not inconsistent with the duties of a Tax Assessor. The Assessor shall be the custodian of all Borough property pertaining to his/her office.

§ 45-17 Hours of work; cooperation.

The Assessor shall perform his duties during the days and hours established by the appropriate state or county governmental offices for the operation of the Office of Tax Assessor as may be promulgated from time to time as well as those established by the governing body as not inconsistent therewith or as may be permitted by law. The Assessor shall cooperate with and render assistance to other offices within the Borough of South River and any municipal official or officials.

§ 45-18 Accountability.

The Assessor shall account to and be responsible for the proper expenditure of the funds allotted to him/her in the municipal budget and comply with all procedures established or to be established by the governing body for the expenditure of municipal funds.
