The term of office of the elective Superintendent of Highways of the Town of North Salem shall be four years. Such four-year term shall commence on the first day of January following the Town election at which the mandatory referendum for this article is approved by a majority of the electors.
At the Town election at which date the mandatory referendum for this article is approved by a majority of the electors and every four years thereafter, the Town Superintendent of Highways shall be elected for a term of four years.
This article, adopted pursuant to Municipal Home Rule Law § 10, Subdivision 1(ii)a(1), shall supersede, in its application to the Town of North Salem Town Law § 24, with respect to the term of office of the elective Town Superintendent of Highways.
This article shall be submitted for approval to the electors of the Town of North Salem at an election held not less than 60 days after its adoption.[1]
