The term of office of the elective Superintendent of Highways of the
Town of North Salem shall be four years. Such four-year term shall commence
on the first day of January following the Town election at which the mandatory
referendum for this article is approved by a majority of the electors.
At the Town election at which date the mandatory referendum for this
article is approved by a majority of the electors and every four years thereafter,
the Town Superintendent of Highways shall be elected for a term of four years.
This article, adopted pursuant to Municipal Home Rule Law § 10,
Subdivision 1(ii)a(1), shall supersede, in its application to the Town of
North Salem Town Law § 24, with respect to the term of office of
the elective Town Superintendent of Highways.
