GENERAL REFERENCES
Alcoholic beverages — See Ch. 30.
The following rules and regulations shall apply to and govern the use of Town parks:
A. 
The use of Town parks is limited to residents of the Town and their guests.
B. 
All Town parks shall be closed between sunset and 8:00 a.m.
C. 
The consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages is prohibited except pursuant to a special permit issued pursuant to Town of North Salem Local Law No. I of 1979.[1]

D. 
Hunting is prohibited.
E. 
No person shall possess firearms, bows and arrows or any other dangerous weapons or devices, including air guns and spring guns.
F. 
Littering is prohibited.
G. 
Destroying or defacing of public property is prohibited.
H. 
Driving or parking of motor vehicles is prohibited except in areas specifically designated for such purposes. The maximum speed limit in such designated areas shall be 10 miles per hour. Such areas shall be exclusively used for driving or parking of motor vehicles.
I. 
The use of any engine-powered device, including, without limitations by specification, mini-bikes, go-karts and snowmobiles, is prohibited, except for motor vehicles using designated driving or parking areas.
J. 
Any behavior which would tend to cause inconvenience, annoyance or harm to others is prohibited.
K. 
Camping is prohibited.
L. 
Pets shall be on a leash at all times.
M. 
No open fire shall be allowed regardless of its purpose.
A. 
The provisions of § 160-1B, J, K and M of this chapter shall not apply to person(s) or organization(s) who shall have obtained a special permit from the Town Board of the Town of North Salem authorizing activities which would otherwise be prohibited by said sections. A special permit shall only be granted upon written application to the Town Board, said application to contain the name and signature of the person(s) or organization(s) seeking a special permit, a brief description of the proposed activity or activities and the time and location at which such activity or activities shall begin and end.
B. 
Following receipt of an application in good order, the Town Board shall determine whether the proposed activity or activities are consistent with the public health, safety and welfare and, based thereon, shall issue or shall refuse to issue the special permit requested. If granted, said permit shall contain a brief description of the activity or activities permitted, the name of the person(s) or organization(s) responsible and any conditions which the Board may deem appropriate.
Any person, upon conviction for a violation of this chapter, shall be guilty of a violation as defined in Article 10.00, Subdivision 3, of the Penal Law, which shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $250.
The Town of North Salem hereby disclaims any and all liability for damage to person or property caused by persons engaging in acts prohibited by this chapter.
The Town Board may from time to time promulgate rules and regulations for the operation and use of the Town tennis courts and parkland and conduct thereon. Such rules and regulations shall be on file in the office of the Town Clerk and made a part of the addendum to this Code.
