A distinct office known as that of "Chief of Police" is established in the Borough of Lansdowne.
An office known as that of "Assistant Chief of Police" is established in the Borough of Lansdowne.

The existing Police Department is hereby recognized, confirmed and reestablished in and for the Borough of Lansdowne. The Chief of Police shall be the chief executive of the Police Department, and he shall, under the direction of the Mayor, be in charge of the police force and have supervision over its members in the exercise of their powers, duties and authority.

Subordinate to the Chief of Police in the Police Department there shall be classifications for Captain, Sergeant and patrolman, with authority in that order. The number of persons to serve in each of such subordinate classifications and the compensation of each shall be as determined by the Borough Council from time to time.

The appointments heretofore made of the Chief of Police, Sergeants and patrolmen are hereby ratified and confirmed.
