A.
Any person, persons, firm or corporation owning or occupying any
property containing a public sidewalk abutting upon a public street
or highway in the Borough of Lansdowne shall, within 24 hours after
any snowfall or ice precipitation, remove all said snow or ice from
the full width of the paved surface of said sidewalk, and it shall
be unlawful for any said owner or occupier to permit any such snow
or ice to remain on the paved surface of said sidewalk for a period
longer than 24 hours after any such snowfall or ice precipitation.
B.
If the removal of ice is not possible, the property owner or occupant
shall place salt, sand, ashes or similar material over the ice on
the sidewalk.

Any person, firm or corporation who or which violates any of
the provisions of this article or fails to comply with the provisions
of this article shall, upon conviction thereof before a Magisterial
District Judge, be fined not more than $600, plus costs of prosecution,
and in default of payment of such fine and costs be imprisoned for
not more than 30 days.
Upon the failure of any person, persons, firm or corporation to comply with the provisions of § 294-1 of this article, the Borough Manager shall forthwith cause said snow or ice to be removed from the full width of the paved surface of said sidewalk and the owner or occupier so offending shall be liable for the cost thereof plus a penalty of 10% for the use of the Borough, said costs and penalty to be recoverable before a Magisterial District Judge as such debts are by law recoverable, provided that such costs and penalty shall be collected in addition to any fine or imprisonment imposed under the provisions of § 294-2 of this article.
