There is hereby established in the Borough of Paramus an official to be known as the "Director of Planning." The Director of Planning must hold all certifications and licenses required by the State of New Jersey and the Borough necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position. The person who holds the position of Director of Planning does or does not have to be an employee of the Borough of Paramus.
The Director of Planning shall review and have oversight over zoning and planning issues that may come before the Borough of Paramus and, where applicable, with the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment as well as any and all of the other requirements consistent with this job. The Director shall assist the Borough, and where applicable, the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment with all planning and zoning issues that arise before the Borough, including, but not limited to: current and long-range planning, transportation planning, land development review, housing and demographic analysis, natural resource and utility planning and intergovernmental land use coordination.
The Director of Planning shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Borough Council.
