Within the Department of Fire, there shall be the Fire Division, the head of which shall be the Fire Chief as provided in § 5-80.
A.
The Fire Division shall consist of the following:

Seven Deputy Fire Chiefs.

B.
The Fire Division shall consist of such other employees
as the Municipal Council may from time to time authorize.
The Fire Chief shall be the executive officer of the Fire Division,
subject to the rules, regulations and orders as may be prescribed by the Fire
Director. The Fire Chief shall be a bona fide resident of the City of Paterson.
One of the Deputy Fire Chiefs of the Fire Division, designated by the
Fire Chief, shall, in the absence of the Fire Chief, perform all the duties
of the Fire Chief. If both the Fire Chief and the designated Acting Fire Chief
shall be absent, then the ranking commanding officer of the Division shall
be the Acting Chief.
